The Department of Political Science started its journey with UG General course in the academic year 1969-1970. Honours course was introduced in the academic year 2002-2003.
Curriculum is based on the syllabi framed by The University of Gour Banga.
At present B.A. Major and Minor courses are offered in semester-I by the department as Per National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 as well as B.A. third and fifth semester Honours and General courses are going on under CBCS syllabus.
Academic session is from July to June and the academic calendar is guided by the affiliating university.
